About Scouting...
If you're between the ages of 6 and 20, you might be interested in one of the Scouting programs. If you're a parent, you might be interested in volunteering to a Scout leader. Scouting offers a time-tested set of activities that have produced fine citizens, dedicated family members and strong community leaders for more than 90 years.

Whatever your pursuits, we welcome your interest in Scouting!

Adult Background Checks...
The Black Warrior Council, in accordance with National BSA policy, requires all new adults wishing to become leaders to authorize the BSA to conduct a criminal background check of themselves.

A new adult application, which will replace all previous versions, will require social security numbers and clearly state that by submitting the application you are authorizing a criminal background check of yourself.

Please direct any questions you may have to Jerry Moore at (205) 554-1680.

Friends of Scouting...
Scouting is thriving in our area!  The Black Warrior Council is an integral part of the nation’s finest Scouting programs.  In order to provide these high quality programs, a strong base of financial strength is needed.  This FOS campaign is necessary to raise the additional funds above and beyond what the United Way and other income sources provide, making up the council’s largest single source of income.

Please contact us at (205) 554-1680 to pledge your support.

Verbal Communications

RE: Beaver Day

Please accept this as my sincere apologies for not properly promoting and planning Beaver Day.  I misunderstood the history of the event.  I was under the impression that Beaver Day was an Order of the Arrow event but now understand that it is a "Council Event".  I take full responsibility for the miscommunications and will work diligently to ensure better communications in the future.  Our intention for the 2006-2007 Scout year is to have quarterly workdays at Camp Horne and Camp O'Rear.  These will replace Beaver Day and will be plainly marked in the Black Warrior Council calendar and on this website.
