Council News:
Policy Regarding Scout Participation in Political Events:
With 2008 being an
election year, we feel that it is appropriate to remind everyone of
the Boy Scouts of America's Policy regarding participation of Scouts
in political events:
-
Uniformed Scouts
(Youth and Leaders) may participate in flag ceremonies at
political events, however, they should retire after the ceremony
and not remain in a conspicuous location where cameras could
interpret their participation as an endorsement for a particular
candidate over another.
-
Photos of candidates
and Scouts in uniform or BSA insignia of any type are not
allowed in political campaign materials.
-
Strict observance of
these policies are mandatory. Please be alert to any
situation that might arise, which would involve the possibility
of uniformed Scouts being used to endorse or support a
particular political candidate.
-
If you have any
questions, please contact the Council Service Center at
205-554-1680.
